The summer of 2008 was an experience we’ll never
forget.
Keating
Plumbing & Heating was contracted by
Bensonwood Homes to install a
plumbing system in a pre-fabricated
home that was televised on
This
Old House. The series was
a 16 episode program, that was
filmed both at the Bensonwood
facility in Walpole, NH; and at the
jobsite in Weston, MA. KPH plumbers
piped in two bathrooms in pre built
boxes; which were then moved on site
and set into place by a crane.
At the house site, a master bath,
and two other bathrooms were piped
in, along with the kitchen. The
heating system had radiant tubing
pre-piped at the Bensonwood
facility. When the floor systems
were moved on site, we assisted in
the boiler room piping. Radiant ran
throughout the house, including the
lower level slab, the first floor
and the second floor.
Solar panels were installed on the
roof; KPH installed the piping for
the solar into the boiler room along
with the solar tank. This home
achieved Silver LEED Certification
due to its use of green technologies
and low impact on the environment.
Throughout this project, filming was
going on. You can catch our crew in
the background, and also in two
programs where Lynne Keating and
Rich
Trethewey, the plumbing
and heating specialist of
This
Old House, are
demonstrating the plumbing work
going on.
